Where is Windows Installation Media

Windows installation media is needed during installation or reinstallation of Windows. It includes files or physical media. The installation media is used on a computer. Numerous forms exist for this media:

USB

It is both common and useful. When you work with a USB flash drive, you are working with Windows installation files. Creation of a bootable USB drive is possible. Utilize tools like the Windows Media Creation Tool.

DVD

In the past, one typically saw Windows installation media on a DVD. Yet this has turned less typical. This is due in part to the rise of USB drives and digital downloads.

ISO File

An ISO file is a disk image. It has installation files. You may burn this image to DVD. Or you can make a bootable USB from it. The ISO files can be attained from Microsoft’s site.

Digital Download

Certain Windows versions are suitable for this. You can download installation files directly. Then use these files to create bootable media. Alternatively, upgrade a present installation.

The installation media initiates the setup process. One must boot from the media and follow instructions. Instructions involve either installing or repairing Windows. Crucial for setting up a new computer. Also, for upgrading from an older version. Last, for performing a clean install.
