How to increase Your iPhone’s Battery Life: Tips and Tricks

The iPhone battery life is a hard topic. Being able to afford you an all-day battery when the iPhone has already delivered that and more across several generations without compromising performance in any way. In this blog post, I share easy and advanced tips to keep your iPhone always fully charged.

Enable Low Power Mode

When you are running low on the battery and do not have a charger available, the Low Power Mode comes to your rescue. This setting is designed to save battery life by automatically turning off background processes like downloads, visual effects, and mail fetch. To activate it, follow these steps:

While this mode can reduce some iPhone functionality (like slower app refreshes or email syncing), it’s a great temporary solution for preserving batteries in an emergency.

Adjust Screen Brightness

The display of your iPhone could use more battery, especially when the brightness is presented and is turned up too high. The manual method still leaves the Auto-Brightness feature available to you, so have a look at this guide on how to disable it if using your own dirty software has not solved any problems. If for some reason you want to do it manually, head over to Settings > Display & Brightness. You can also quickly switch on/off Auto Brightness by going to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size.

Alternatively, swipe down from the top-right corner to access the Control Center, and modify the bright slider settings.

Disable Background App Refreshing

Many active apps/having active accounts in social media will keep running in the background refreshing their static contents even when they are not in use. However, for those apps that do not require such constant refreshing, it is advisable to disable Background App Refresh to save battery.

Navigate to Settings. Go to General. Background App Refresh controls and deselects It for the apps you do not frequently use.

This also restricts the apps from performing updates in the background which will conserve the battery life and data.

Disabling Location Services should be Considered

Apps with location services continuously run in the background, which can lead to battery depletion. There is no need for every app to always have a location. This can also be managed through the setting of certain apps by turning off Location Services.

Tap Settings – Privacy and Location Services where it can be totally turned off or set for some applications only.

Instead of enabling Always, consider allowing access to While Using the App, so that applications can only make use of the location when you are using the app.

Push Notifications Can Be Disable for Some Apps

It is true that push notifications are an excellent way of getting all editions, however, they are so useful that they needlessly wake up your phone and consume battery life. It is possible to change the settings and must actively receive notifications or set them only to SOS apps.

Navigate to Settings > Notifications and turn off notification settings or restrict them for apps that are not very important.

Alternatively, you can turn off Push under Settings > Mail > Accounts > Fetch New Data and change it from Push mode to Fetch mode where the phone will receive fresh data at longer intervals.

Engage Dark Mode also applies to those that have got an Apple iPhone which possesses an OLED display. One way to save battery life is to enable Dark Mode, which you may do on an iPhone X or later.

Turn Off Animation Effects

Although animations and motion effects on the iPhone are enjoyable, they are also a battery drain. Keeping these animations or minimizing them is a viable option.

Within Settings, choose Accessibility, and Motion, it is a toggle that you activate Reduce Motion to constrain the motion designing and animations.

This is in great scope of an impact especially for those on old devices.

Disable Auto Download and Auto Update of Apps

Downloading apps automatically including multiple app updates consumes energy, automatic updates can be very costly when most of the apps download in the background.

Go to Settings -> App Store and note that an option for App Updates and Automatic Downloads will be present which you must turn off.

This will enable you to update or download the apps only if you choose to do so.

Update iOS version when New Versions Are Released

The updates issued by Apple include opportunities to assist the device in extending the life of its battery and improving overall efficiency. Do ensure that the device is always updated to the latest version of the IOS as that is the only way to reap these benefits.

Go to Settings and then General then Software Update to see if a new update is possible.
